Technological (Safety) Operation Rules
- Before using the machine, operators shall get familiar with the rules and precautions first.
- Starting up the machine: firstly open the computer, then the fiber optic lights, anti-vibration table, and finally start the sample stage motor, PZT controller, and Triboscope controller.
- All samples on stage should be defined, and the first sample—as the aluminum standard sample—should be defined under the XY Safety Disabled condition.
- Operate ‘Quick Approach’ to samples except for the standard sample.
- Operate ‘Air Indent’ before experiment (around 30 min after switching on the machine). The machine is then in stable working status.
- When there is slightly large surface undulation on the surface of sample, small range scanning in ‘Imaging’ should be selected to continue the test.
- Tests on scratching, friction and wear should be operated in ‘Imaging’ window. Set the length of scratch less than 20um and friction and wear of loading force Setpoint less than 98uN.
- Al standard sample uses aurilave, and FQ standard sample uses alcohol or acetone to wipe the surface.
- As for needle tip, usually use the aurilave to bow it. If it cannot achieve good cleaning effect, you can hold the tip by hand and dip it in alcohol or acetone, and then dry it in the air.
