RAL Successfully develops “New 400 Asynchronous Hot Rolling Mill”

 “New 400 Asynchronous Hot Rolling Mill”, the early-cultivated key basic research equipment by NEU "985 Project" on material design, preparation and processing technology innovation platform and Collaborative Innovative Center of Steel Technology, was developed successfully in RAL. From March 5 to 16, 2014, all the technical data and assessment test were completed and the results showed it met or even exceeded its design standards in terms of rolling capacity, scientific research function, overall preparation level and other aspects. The operation of this rolling mill will greatly promote the technology research on high-end hot rolling and development of new materials, giving important support for the material processing disciplines of NEU to carry out basic research, develop and apply high and new technologies.

 

This new mill adopts dual-motor drive full hydraulic fast pressure control, and has large torque differential control. It can realize synchronous and asynchronous rolling, skis rolling, MAX rolling and wedge rolling and many other rolling processes according to different rolling demands. This rolling mill can also achieve high-speed rolling, ensure the final rolling temperature for finished samples of w280'h2mm hot rolled steel sheet to be above 900℃, and effectively simulate hot rolling process on various production lines. This kind of rolling mill has advanced control system and data analyzing and testing methods. Matched to the existing combined control cooling system, the mill will cover even surpass all the rolling research functions of the existing processes. It is another breakthrough in rolling technology and equipment research area, and indicates that the research and development of pilot study equipment in RAL steps towards a trend of being serialized, function-oriented and practical in service.
