In the morning of October 20th, at the invitation of Tang Wang, Dean of Yutong Technology Research Institute, Academician Wang Guodong visited Yutong Group and made a special academic report. Relevant staffs from the research institute participated in the seminar, which was hosted by the Dean Tang Wang.
Dean Tang Wang reviewed the benefits of lightweight and cost reduction through cooperation with NEU in the development of bus frame, stainless steel muffler, and lightweight vehicles. He hoped that this visit could lay a solid foundation for next year’s further cooperation between the two sides. In his report, Academician Wang mainly introduced research progress of RAL lab in hot rolling AHSS for vehicles, as well as the current development situation and possible application of rolling technologies for typical hot rolling products such as DP steel, TRIP steel and Q&P steel. He also suggested Yu Tong could establish a ‘Lightweight Bus Alliance’with NEU and steel companies like WISCO, to develop low cost, high performance, and minimized bus parts, to play a significant role in lightweight bus.
Dean Tang indicated that the trend of lightweight in vehicles and the development towards low-cost, lightweight and optimization in vehicle steel have stimulated great demand for hot-rolled high-strength steel. Being the leader in domestic bus market, Yutong has keen interests on the development of hot-rolled high-strength steel. Yu Tong is looking forward to cooperating with NEU and WISCO to make accomplishments in the development of hot-rolled high-strength steel, to make its contribution to energy conservation and emission reduction and the development of vehicle-used steel.
