On January 16, at the invitation of Academician Wang Guodong in the State Key Laboratory of Rolling and Automation, Professor Yong Qilong, a renowned expert in material from Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, Guo Aimin, a chief engineer from CITIC Metal Co., Ltd and Wang Houxin，a senior manager from CITIC Metal Co., Ltd visited RAL for academic exchange. They exchanged their experience in writing scientific papers with over a hundred postgraduates from RAL and School of Materials and Metallurgy at a seminar hosted by Wu Di, director of RAL.
Professor Yong introduced how to write a good scientific paper from three aspects: classification of scientific paper, importance of writing a scientific paper, and the format and arrangement of scientific paper. Professor Yong illustrated some dos and don’ts in writing a scientific paper and pointed out some typical mistakes through various examples, and provided some useful tips in writing scientific paper based on years of experience. The students benefited a lot from Yong’s lecture, and can put the knowledge into their future paper writing.
After the seminar, Professor Yong exchanged ideas over the research on the second phase in steel, and answered questions put forward by the teachers and students, including associate professor Jia Tao, associate professor Tang Shuai, and postdoctor Deng Xiangtao.
