On June 13, Ren Zhongming, director of the State Key Laboratory of High Quality Special Steel Metallurgy and Manufacturing in Shanghai University and two delegation members visited RAL and attended a seminar together with Academician Wang Guodong and some professors and associate professors of RAL. The delegation also visited and investigated the construction and operation of state key laboratory in RAL.
Academician Wang extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and gave a brief introduction to the development history of RAL, especially the achievements made by RAL in key laboratory management and development directions, including research team building, talent evaluation system, the relationship between fundamental research and engineering application and so on. Director Ren briefly introduced the fundamental research of their laboratory and the application achievements they had made at the construction stage based on the huge demand of high quality special steel from high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
At the seminar, the two sides had an in-depth communication and discussion on laboratory discipline direction, institutional construction, fund management, talent introduction, enterprise cooperation, instrument platform, and lab management. They also exchanged experience on related technological problems, including metallurgy high temperature melt structure detection, electromagnetic metallurgy and so on.
After the seminar, the delegation visited the state key laboratory of rolling technology and rolling automation under the guidance of Academician Wang Guodong.
