Eight Projects of RAL Get funded by 2015 National Natural Science Foundation

Recently, the assessment results of 2015 National Natural Science Foundation were released. In RAL, altogether 8 projects got funded, including 1 key project of iron and steel joint funds, 2 horizontal projects, and 5 projects for distinguished young scholars. Compared with the results of last year (1 key project of iron and steel joint funds, 1 horizontal project, and 1 project for distinguished young scholars), RAL really made a great progress in this year. The progress of young teachers is remarkably significant, showing that RAL has great potential in scientific research and good prospects for development.

RAL warmly congratulated all the teachers who have successfully won the support from Natural Science Foundation!

Learning from the experience and lessons in the application for the 2014 National Natural Science Foundation funds, RAL has strengthened the organization and guidance of the application process. While maintaining the fundamentality, novelty and advancement of Natural Science Foundation, RAL specially emphasized the guiding function of key national needs, aimed at the target of industrialized application, and extracted scientific problems from the key common problems existed in markets and production. In addition, through adhering to innovative guidance, pooling collective wisdom and playing synergistic effect, and putting forward high-level application, RAL endeavors to make the Natural Science Foundation an important cultivating base for independent innovation technical projects in China. The assessment results of 2015 Natural Science Foundation funds have proved that this approach is absolutely right.

The successful application is just the first step. We still have a long way to go. It is hoped that our teachers who have successfully won the funds could stay realistic and pragmatic, and be bold to make innovations, to obtain significant research results in key applications or applications that have bright prospect.

It is also hoped that all the staff of RAL could have more accumulation in research, and have a better results in the application next year.
