On October 8, Academician Wang Guodong and Prof. Wang Zhaodong visited Hebei Iron and Steel Group, and held an in-depth discussion and exchange on the results achieved and future direction of cooperation between Steel Collaborative Innovation Center of Northeastern University and Hebei Iron and Steel Group.
According to reports, after half a year’s collaborative innovation between the sides, the percentage of quality steel increased dramatically in Tangsteel Plate Co., Ltd. Both sides believe that through collaborative innovation, the transformation of the Tangsteel Plate Co., Ltd will become a model for the transformation of plate enterprises.
For production lines that need transformation and upgrading in Hesteel, Hesteel expected that Northeastern University could take the lead to organize the research force and experts in production, study and research, to carry out collaborative innovation, and find out the problem with these production lines. For instance, RAL of NEU implemented targeted transformation in Tangsteel Plate Co., Ltd to gain results, innovation, differences, and benefits. Both sides agreed to further expand the research of collaborative innovation, push forward the comprehensive strategic cooperation, and to implement systematic innovaton from steel-making, continuous casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, heat treatment, to coating integration. During this process, RAL will cultivate talents for the enterprise, and provide technical support for the transformation of the enterprise culture of innovative talents, so as to provide technical support for the transformation and development of Hesteel.
While visiting Hesteel, Academician Wang Guodong delivered a speech titled “Green transformation of steed inducsty under new conditions.”He pointed out that facing the grim situation after disordered development, the green transformation of steel industry is extremely urgent, and this is why we must unswervingly carry out innovation-driven development strategy. Through collaborative innovation among production, study, research and application, we should adjust the stock, vigorously develop key generic technology, implement production line benchmarking, technological transformation, and transformational development to upgrade the products from low and medium level to high level. In the meantime, by applying the original innovation of cutting-edge technology, we should optimize the stock, and develop new green technologies with energy efficiency, emission reduction, good quality and low cost, to realize the transformational development and product upgrading of Hesteel, produce some world pioneering products, and contribute to the leading position of China’s steel industry.
It is reported that the Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Generic Technologies of Northeastern University has already carried out targeted technological transformation pilot tests or pilot preparations in some key plants in accordance with the instructions from leaders of Hesteel. Through innovation, the collaborative center will push forward the integrated transformation of technology, equipment, product and service, and the integrated innovation of the whole production chain, realize the overall upgrading of technology and products, improve enterprise’s technology innovation and core competitiveness, and set up a model for enterprise transformation and development.
