Interim Summary and Technical Seminar for a Key Project of State 863 Program Was Held in RAL

        On August 12th, 2016,Interim Summary and Technical Seminar of “Research and Production Technology Development of Offshore Platform High Manganese High Strength and Toughness Steel Plate and Titanium/Steel Composite Plate”, a key project in the State 863 Program, was held in No. 411 Conference Room of RAL. Present at the meeting were Section Chief from MOST Shi Dongmei, Professor Hu Wen-bin of Tianjin University, Director Xue Gang of Luoyang Institute, Academician Wang Guodong, Director of RAL Wang Zhao-dong, leaders from Finance & Economics Department and Sci-tech Department of NEU, relevant leaders and researchers from participating units, and teachers and researchers of RAL who participated in this project.

 

        This key project is undertaken by Northeastern University, and participated by Central Iron and Steel Research Institute, Anshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Xi'an Tianli Metal Composite Material Co., Ltd. and China Classification Society. The project aims to develop production technology of offshore platform high manganese high strength and toughness steel plate and titanium/steel composite plate, and solve the key material problems and green protection problems encountered in implementing the marine development strategy in China, and plans to complete the key technology development, industrialized mass production and product demonstration and application within three years.

 

        Professor LuoZong’an hosted this seminar. At the meeting, Director Wang Zhaodong first delivered a welcome speech, and affirmed the achievements made in the early stage of this 863 project. Academician Wang Guodong delivered an important speech. He stressed the significance of this project in view of relevant national policies concerning vital strategic needs of national marine development, and put forward some specific advice about the implementation of the project. Prof. Du Linxiu introduced the progress of the overall research, problems existed and improvement measures taken so far. Hu Jun and XieGuangming, teachers from NEU, reported the research progress in high manganese high strength and toughness steel plate and titanium/steel composite plate, respectively. Wu Yan-hong, a teacher from NEU briefly introduced the expenditures of the budget. Having heard the reports, Shi Dongmei, Section Chief from MOST, affirmed the project’s achievements, introduced policies and specific measures in the management of national sci& tech projects, and interpreted relevant policies in fund management of national planning programs.

 

        In the afternoon, the participating units introduced their progress, achievements and problems concerning their own tasks, and held an in-depth communication and discussion on relevant problems and key questions in later stage of research.
