Recently, RAL Signed a Contract with Panyu Chu Kong Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. (PCK) on “ Equipment Design and Supply of Compound Plate Billet and Finishing Section” in the project of bimetal compound plate /reel/ pipe integration, marking the design and manufacture of vacuum rolling stainless steel compound plate/pipe production line has officially entered the implementation stage.
As the largest manufacturer and exporter of big diameter longitudinal submerged arc welding pipe (LSAW) in China, PCK boasts 8 production and sales bases at home and abroad. Currently, PCK is engaged in the “high performance pipeline steel pipe”project with an annual capacity of 3.8 million tons and “marine engineering equipment oil-gas storage and transportation board/reel/pipe integration” project in Xuwei district(China central-east-west cooperation demonstration zone), LianYungang City, Jiangsu Province. Among them are the widest 3352mm hot rolling mill in the world and the high quality full rolling corrosion resistant compound board/reel/pipe production line. By virtue of advanced technological scheme, solid research foundation and rich experience in engineering application, RAL was recognized by the proprietors, and won the bidding of “ full rolling compound billet and finishing production line”, standing out from many well-known domestic metallurgical enterprises in the competition.
By combining the advantages of the high corrosion resistance of composite material and low cost and high strength of steel substrate material, the bimetal corrosion resistant compound steel plate has been in large demand in the national economy. However, the widely used compound plate produced by means of explosive composite technology has some shortcomings, such as limited size and specification, high cost, poor interface stability, serious environmental pollution, etc. In contrast, the compound plate produced by full rolling composite technique has the advantages of large size and specification, low cost, high quality, high efficiency and pro-environment, which points out the future direction of composite technology. The composite material research group in RAL pioneered the research and development of full rolling compound plate in China, and has been long engaged in the field of full rolling vacuum composite technique for a decade of years. With advanced composite technology and strong ability in applying techniques to engineering, RAL research group has popularized the technique successively to a number of iron and steel enterprises, established several demonstration production lines, and developed many compound plate products, including stainless steel plate, nickel-based alloy, titanium compound steel plate, and so on. These products have been widely used in petroleum chemical industry. At present, due to its long service life and no water pollution quality, stainless steel composite reel/pipe serves as a good substitute for the traditional PVC and cast steel water pipes in the field of city water pipeline, and has showed great market potential. The technical staffs of composite material research group in RAL will take this opportunity to establish PCK’s full rolling vacuum compound production line into a first-class compound plate/reel production line both at home and abroad.
