On the afternoon of February 7th, Dr. Wang Kun, a distinguished alumnus of NEU and executive director and minister of technology and research in Nippon Yakin Kogyo Co., Ltd, visited RAL for exchange at the invitation of academician Wang Guodong.
At the meeting, academician Wang Guodong, director Wang Zhaodong and some teachers introduced RAL’s research achievements and applications to Dr. Wang Kun, including off-line medium and thick plate roller quenching technique and equipment, high temperature roller hearth heat treatment technique and equipment, online medium and thick plate new generation TMCP technique and equipment, such as UFC（ultra-fast cooling）, instant cooling, and so on. Dr. Wang Kun expressed his appreciation on RAL’s technical advancement, and introduced the current production equipmentof Nippon Yakin Kogyo Co., Ltd, where the old-fashioned box furnace and tank quenching technique are still used for the solution quenching of stainless steel, and the quenching plate shape and performance uniformity are relatively poor.
After listening to the report of RAL, Dr. Wang Kun showed a keen interest in NEU’s whole set of equipment and technique in medium and thick plate solution quenching, and expressed willingness to cooperate with Northeastern University.
