On February 20th, a delegation of 7 people from HBIS Group came to NEU for investigation and research, among whom were Wang Xindong, Deputy General Manager in HBIS, and Li Bingjun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Commission in HBIS. NEU President Zhao Ji held a symposium in Room 308 of HanQing Hall in honor of the delegation. The two parties had an in-depth exchange on promoting the relevant work of HBIS-NEU Industrial Technology Institute in 2017. Wang Guodong, academician of Chinese Engineering Academy and director of HBIS-NEU Industrial Technology Institute, Wang Jinkuan, Vice President of NEU, XuFeng, President Assistant, and Prof. Wang Guoren attended the symposium.
At the symposium, Wang Xindong said that since the establishment of HBIS-NEU Industrial Technology Institute, some teachers from NEU has penetrated into the production line of the enterprise, and carried out in-depth investigation and research in different branches of HBIS. They docked with several production lines and launched 34 research projects for the first batch. The unity of knowledge and action exhibited in the researchers of NEU were very impressive, and had generated favorable influence in HBIS. The cooperation between the two sides has developed both in scope and depth, the institute has operated in a virtuous cycle, and the cooperation project was pushed forward firmly. In 2017, the institute will launch a batch of new research projects, and make greater efforts in intelligent manufacturing of iron and steel, and improvement of the production lines. The institute will strive to make good preparations for the 2017 annual symposium of HBIS-NEU Industrial Technology Institute for technology exchange. Wang also hoped that NEU will assist HBIS Group with personnel training.
President Zhao Ji remarked that HBIS-NEU Industrial Technology Institute was a demonstration project of NEU’s industry-university-research cooperation. As a landmark achievement of long-term strategic cooperation between NEU and HBIS, it had greatly promoted the collaborative innovation and science and technology transfer in NEU, and had boosted in-depth reform of the university. President Zhao hoped that the two sides would take the institute as a platform, give full play to the advantages of NEU’s traditional preponderant disciplines such as information technology and metallurgy, and contribute to the intelligent manufacturing of the iron and steel industry. Meanwhile, he hoped the cooperation would take advantage of NEU’s excellence in the field of big data, and promote the transformation and upgrading of iron and steel enterprises. NEU would give full support to the personnel training of HBIS, strive to build a platform that is most competitive and influential across the globe, serve as an excellent model of the cooperation between university and enterprise, and a gathering and training base for the top technical talents in iron and steel industry in China.
Prior to the symposia, Wang Xindong and his delegation and the directors of HBIS-NEU Industrial Technology Institute and RAL group leaders had an exchange on the working details of the institute in 2017 in Room 417 of state key laboratory RAL. Wang Guodong reported on the achievements of the institute in 2016, and mapped out the research projects on promoting automation, intelligence and information production of iron and steel industry.
