From July 24th-28th, A group of four people from the R&D Department of China Steel Corporation (Taiwan), including Dr. Wang Yuancong and Dr. Zheng Hengxing, came to RAL for an exchange visit. They discussed hot rolling technology in China Steel, the upgrading and transforming of cold-rolling pilot test equipments , and product development technology with the technical experts from Northeastern University, AnSteel and Baosteel.

Li Jianping, deputy director of the laboratory, first welcomed the arrival of Dr. Wang Yuancong and his delegation. They reviewed the successful cooperation between the two sides and introduced the progress of pilot equipment technology development in recent years. Members from the pilot scale project group conducted technical exchanges with the visitors on the reconstruction project of experimental rolling mill. Jiao Zhijie, Gao Yang, Sun Tao, Wang Guiqiao and some other teachers explained the technical plan for the renovation project of hot rolling and cold rolling experimental mill in CSC (Taiwan). The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on related technologies, business details, and ways of cooperation on the renovation project, and finally reached agreement on the design and renovation program of the hot-rolling and cold-rolling units. This is another technical and commercial cooperation between Northeastern University and CSC (Taiwan) based on the “fast control cooling system” project they had jointly fulfilled earlier.
During the visit, the technical experts from CSC (Taiwan) also visited the Technical Centre and Hot Rolling Plant in AnSteel, and the Research Institute in BaoSteel for technical inspections and exchanges. They were deeply impressed by the extensive application in metallurgy industry of the series of pilot test equipments developed by RAL, and spoke highly of the important role RAL had played in the research and development of the processing equipments and new products in steel enterprises. Through technical exchanges, the guests from CSC (Taiwan) believed that the hot rolling experimental mill process and equipment renovation blueprint proposed by Northeastern University was more reasonable and complete.

At the meeting, the technical experts from CSC (Taiwan) also discussed and exchanged ideas with Prof. Xu Yunbo and Associate Professor Tang Shuai on the development of hot-rolling and cold-rolling products. The two sides intended to carry out in-depth cooperation in the future.
