Professor Zhong Guohui and His Delegation from Hong Kong Polytechnic University Visited RAL

On July 30th, 2017, Prof. Zhong Guohui, Director of Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch), Dr. He Haoxiang, and Research Assistant Feng Wei from Hong Kong Polytechnic University visited RAL. Professor Wang Guodong, Prof. Yuan Guo, Associate Professor Tang Shuai, lecturer Kang Jian, and Dr. Wang Chao had an academic exchange with the visiting guests in Room 406.

 

Prof. Zhong Guohui introduced that Chinese National Engineering Research Centre for Steel Construction (Hong Kong Branch) was established in August 2016. Its core mission was to promote industrial transformation and upgrading, strengthen international cooperation, and accelerate research and development in key technologies. The establishment of the Hong Kong Branch was an effective way to improve the technological level of China's steel structure engineering. It is of great significance to promoting China's steel products and steel structures to go global, and promoting the steel structure engineering technology research and its applications in Hong Kong, Macao, mainland China and the whole world.

 

Academician Wang Guodong introduced the development of production technology for high-performance structural steels, and pointed out the importance and technical advantages of controlled rolling and cooling process based on integrated organization control technology in the development of high-performance structural steels. He focused on the latest research progress made by RAL and Collaborative Innovation Center of Steel Technology of Northeastern University in the fields of oxide metallurgy technology, continuous casting solidification equipment technology, controlled rolling and cooling process technology, high heat input welding steel, and so on. At the exchange meeting, the two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the application of engineering technology of 690MPa grade high strength steel in building structure, latest research progress and product performance comparison between QT steel and TMCP steel, modern vanadium-titanium high-strength steel and Nb-Mo micro alloy high strength steel development technology, and so on.

 

The two sides believed that the cooperation and mutual visits between the two sides and the in-depth exchanges in related fields would be of great significance to the advancement of application technology of China's iron and steel structure engineering and to promoting China's steel and steel structures to go global.
