The 5m wide plate heat treatment and quenching and tempering line of Hunan Valin Xiangtan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd（XISC）is the key construction project of Hunan Province in 2018. In February 2018, XISC and RAL of Northeastern University officially signed the general contract for the project of heat treatment line quenching machine, after several times of exchanges between the two parties. In March 2018, the two parties completed a detailed design review. In August, the entire heat treatment line was successfully tested for one-time heat load. At present, the project has completed the commissioning work and is officially put into use.
XISC’s 5m wide plate roller quenching machine is the largest single-equipment in China with the largest span of steel plate thickness and the largest width. It can realize the continuous quenching heat treatment production of 5~200mm thick, the widest 4800mm and the longest 26m steel plate. It has various functions such as normalizing, quenching and controlling cooling. After technical breakthroughs, the two parties have broken through many technical problems such as ultra-wide steel plate high uniformity quenching, extra-thick steel plate high permeability quenching, ultra-thin steel plate high flat straight quenching, steel plate temperature control quenching, double-row quenching, etc. So far, the quenching machine can continuously and steadily produce the thinnest 6mm, the thickest 200mm, and the widest 4800mm steel plates, gradually displaying its advantages in equipment technology, and laying a foundation for the production and research and development of high-grade steel plates of XISC.
