From July 16th to July 19th, at the invitation of the State Key Laboratory RAL, Professor Yu-ichi Komizo and Professor Hiroshige Inoue from Joining and Welding Research Institute in Osaka University, Japan, came to RAL for an exchange visit, so as to promote and implement the scientific research cooperation between the two parties.

On the morning of July 17th, the appointment ceremony for foreign professors was held at RAL. Feng Xiating, Vice President of Northeastern University, awarded foreign part-time employment certificate to Professor Hiroshige Inoue, and appointed Professor Inoue Yuji as a foreign part-time professor in Northeastern University. Prior to this event, Professor Yu-ichi Komizo was appointed as a foreign part-time professor in Northeastern University.

At the meeting, Vice President Feng Xiating introduced the development and status quo of Northeastern University, and hoped that Northeastern University and Osaka University would carry out in-depth cooperation in the future. Academician Wang Guodong reviewed previous cooperation between the two sides, and pointed out specific research direction in the cooperation of the two sides. Director Wang Zhaodong briefed the development and current situation of RAL, and gave a detailed introduction to the research work carried out by the laboratory.
At the exchange meeting, Professor Hiroshige Inoue first introduced the development history and status quo of Joining and Welding Research Institute in Osaka University, and then delivered an academic speech titled “Effect of S and Si on Formation of Intragranular Ferrite in Electron Beam Weld Metal of Low Carbon Steel”. Professor Yu-ichi Komizo delivered a speech titled “Inclusion Utilization Technology in Weldments”.
From the afternoon of the 17th to the 18th, Director Wang Zhaodong and Prof. Yu-ichi Komizo and Professor Hiroshige Inoue conducted in-depth discussions on the exchange of personnel, research projects, the establishment of joint laboratories, etc. The two sides reached a consensus on in-depth scientific research cooperation. Teachers and students in RAL and two professors conducted in-depth discussions on issues such as oxide metallurgy and large-line energy welding steel and friction stir welding.
Leaders from Northeastern University International Cooperation and Exchange Office, School of Material Science and Engineering, Professor Zhu Fuxian, Professor Chen Min, and related teachers and graduate students participated in the academic exchange.
